Barclay HOA 2022 Dues Increase
The Barclay Estates HOA Annual Meeting was held on Nov. 16, 2021. All attendees were invited to provide their input on the subject of HOA dues and much needed major projects in the sub. At the meeting, board members presented the historical financial reports, considered the increasing costs of ongoing services, and reviewed a 5-Year Budget Plan which comprehended the scope of the Barclay HOA projects on the horizon and illustrated that the current dues rate no longer supports the increased costs to maintain our neighborhood. The board has determined it is in the best interest of the Barclay Estates Homeowners Association to set the dues at $600 annually beginning in 2022.
The board has worked tirelessly to keep costs at minimum for all services. The Barclay HOA Board is continuously investigating ways to minimize the impact of increasing costs by annually bidding out services, phasing improvements and maintenance. We also have members on the board complete maintenance in order to reduce cost and preserve a suitable budget. However, it has become apparent that the current available funds are no longer adequate to cover the annual ongoing maintenance needs and allow us to budget for larger projects that are becoming urgent needs. The board contemplated proposing a smaller increase but determined that would still leave the HOA unable to tackle much of the work that is required over the next three years and we would be coming back and asking for additional increases or assessments in the very near future.
Continuation of annual maintenance services and addressing aging infrastructure projects is vital to the aesthetic appeal and safety of our subdivision and helps maintain our home values which is to the benefit of all Barclay Estates homeowners. Outlined below are annual recurring services / costs covered by your dues contribution and a high level outline of the Barclay HOA Projects on the Horizon that need to be addressed in the near and upcoming years.
The Barclay HOA welcomes any input from all residents and encourages any resident to serve on the board, which is composed of volunteers to avoid the cost of a management company. The continued support of the neighborhood is very important.

Landscaping: Mowing and edging of common areas, weed control, tree/shrub trimming, watering and sprinkler maintenance, mulching.
Entrances: Beck Road and 9 Mile – Weeding, maintaining landscaping, spring and fall flowers, holiday light, maintaining lighting for safely.
Winter – Snow plowing of the sidewalks along Barclay HOA common areas.
Finance – Annual financial reporting, tax return, dues status letters, insurance.
General – compliance with City of Novi regulations, legal issues, mailbox upkeep, architectural compliance and addressing needs and request of homeowners.
Social – Welcome committee, Directory (available upon request). In addition, the board would love to bring back past events: Barclay Bash, Euchre Night, Ladies Night Out, Ice Cream Social School Kickoff. Please volunteer and help us plan and coordinate!
